Photoshoot with SopiaDisgrace - 11th February 2012

A few weeks ago I did a shoot with Sophia who I really enjoyed working with. Sophia came up with all the ideas for the shoot and is a very experienced model.  We planned for the shoot to be done in my studio and decided that we wanted to go with minimal lighting so I used just one light with a large octagonal soft box and a grid on it to ensure the light only went where I wanted it to go. I positioned the light to the side of Sophia as I much prefer side lighting as well as with some poses moving the light to the side, but coming from behind at about 20 degrees angle to just skim her body.

As Sophia already had the ideas and is very experienced in front of the camera all I had to worry about was the lighting and composition of the individual shots.

For the first idea Sophia was nude, other than wearing lots of jewellery and having artificial flowers in her hair. As she had started to grow pubic hair for another shoot she has in the pipeline we also clipped a flower there. Below is an image from this set.

For the 2nd set, Sophia had these amazing blue wings, which she uses for her burlesque act. I have called them blue wings but to be honest I don’t know what they are calledJ. This turned out to be a major problem due to the size of my studio. But we persevered and got some great images, although being the cruel photographer that I am I persuaded Sophia to pose out in my back garden which at the time was covered in two inches of snow. I am not keen on the results from the garden due to the jumbled background of houses etc. But it convinced me that next time I shoot with Sophia we will use the same props but do the shoot in a derelict building as I think that could look amazing.

Sophia’s 3rd idea was to do her makeup like a dog and to wear collar and lead with a dog’s bowel on the floor. This was a lot of fun as it allowed us to just have fun with the whole concept and experiment with different poses etc.

Lastly to finish off a most enjoyable and productive shoot we did some art nude shots, with Sophia covered in Baby Oil which gives the skin a great sheen and catches the light perfectly.

Photoshoot with Jennie & Laura - 28th January 2012

On New Year’s Eve  we had some friends over to ours and as it had been ages since I had last shot with Jennie, we arranged a date for another shoot, with no idea of what we were going to do, other than I wanted to do something with her hair as she has the most amazing blond hair.

In the meantime I had been approached by Laura who is a friend of Jennie’s about doing a shoot. We had been trying to sort a date for her to come up for about six months, so when we got talking again after New Years we arranged for her to come up at the same time as Jennie’s shoot was planned for. I thought this would help as Laura had never been in front of the camera before and being with Jennie would help her relax.

In the meantime I had done some thinking about what I was going to do with Jennie’s hair and came up with the idea hair bondage. As it happens this just didn’t work on the day, as the rope kept coming out of her hair. Think maybe that was just because I have no idea what I am doing with rope. So went to plan B and used string instead which seemed to hold better and allowed me to get three ties in her hair. When I was editing the image from this set I thought it might be better to remove the string in Photoshop so it just looked like Jennies hair had gone mad and was standing up in a strange way. I think the result works quite well and can be seen below.

For the rest of the shoot I had no real preconceived plans and just let things develop as the shoot progressed, although I wanted to get images of them together as well as one’s of each of them on their own. Also I wanted to involve fetish in some way as they are both into the lifestyle. The fun thing was though is that they are both Sub and both of them found it very difficult playing the Dom, but we sure had a good laugh playing with different ideas and role play.

Below are a few of my favourite images from the shoot.

I should add that considering Laura had never been in front of the camera before she did great and I hope I get to work with her again.

New Forest - January 2012

For my wifes birthday we spent a long weekend down in the New Forest where we had a great time and thought I would share a few of the images I took while we were there.

While on a walk to Hurst Castle at the coast we saw a group of Kite Surfers amd I was amazed how high these guys jump, so tried to capture below. I wish had taken my 400mm lens though, but managed with the 200mm .

Below is the view to the Isle of Wight and I think what is called the needles.

Here below are a few images from our walk in the actual New Forest, including one of the New Forest Ponies.

The New Forest is a beautiful place that we hadn't visited before, but have a feeling we will go back sometime in the near future.

Photoshoot with Megan - 19th January 2012

Megan and I have been emailing each other trying to sort a date for a shoot for about four months, but due to transport issues we have been unable to sort anything.  Then I happened to bump into Megan and her boyfriend at Exodus in Birmingham just before Christmas and discovered her boyfriend lived only 10 miles away from me and Megan comes to visit monthly so we arranged a shoot for her next visit.

As Megan hasn’t done any modelling before and the only time that day we could arrange to do the shoot was in the evening we decided to do the shoot in the studio. To be honest I tend to find models find it easier the first time to work on location due to having the location to interact with rather than being stuck in a completely empty space in the studio.  I have to say Megan did really well for her first time after some coaching from me with regards to posing and stretching her body during the poses to get the best images of her.

Megan wanted to do some fetish type images, but we decided to just take some of her in lingerie first so she could relax into the shoot, before moving onto the fetish images. She also bought along with her this amazing Indian headdress which we just had to incorporate into the shoot.

Below is my favourite image with the headdress which in post production I felt needed more than just a plain background so I added this dreamier look to the image by incorporating a moody sky behind her.

Then we moved onto the fetish images. Megan is a big fan of gags, so we decided to use a dental gag and a tongue clamp and try to capture this look of despair as in being manacled and kneeling all alone on the floor. The gags tend to make you drool, which for some strange reason I like the impact of this as it looks like she has been wearing the gag for a long time and really helps to convey the story of the image. In a few of the images I decided to add a different background into the image to give a feel of being in an old dark cellar.

Looking forward to working with Megan again in the near future as I believe she has a lot of potential as a fetish model.

Photoshoot with Perilune - 16th January 2012

Perilune and I have been discussing doing what we call a cold shoot for some months now. Basically whatever the weather we planned to do a shoot out on location in January. Originally we planned to use some derelict buildings for the shoot but on the morning of the shoot it was one of those beautiful frosty sunny days. Over a cup of tea we chatted about different ideas and thought in fact it might be better to go to Thrapston lakes so we could capture the frost on the ground to really show how cold it was.

We started shooting in a field close to the lakes, once we had found a spot where it was not to open to people walking past, as it was very close to The Nene Way a very popular route for walkers. As we wanted to do Art Nude I first got Perilune to stand in the spot I wanted to photograph her, clothed I might add, so I could get the lighting right before exposing herself to the elements. I used a single strobe with an umbrella, setting the camera to expose for the sky (as I hate a burnt out sky) and then used the flash for fill light.

Once I had taken some test shots Perilune got undressed and we started shooting. I had Perilune stand with her back to the sun so it created rim light around her body and the flash just filled in the shadows. As I was shooting into the sun I was very careful to ensure my shooting angle didn’t let the sun come into the lens, though I also tried shooting right into the sun on a few shots to see what would happen and in fact really liked the effect as seems to give the images a very soft milky feel to them as can be seen below.

Just before we moved on from this location to the actual lake I asked Perilune to lay down on the frosty grass and for some reason she called me evil! Which I have to agree withJ I think it was worth it though for the final image.

We wandered over to the lake and used the same lighting set-up a before. I wanted to capture the ice on the lake behind Perilune so took a lot of wide angle shots. I also showed my evil side again getting Perilune to lay down on this small fishing pier at the lake, which was covered in frost. It was worth it though as I think it was my favourite shot of the day.

Whilst normally I convert the majority of my images to Black & White, I decided a lot of these needed to be colour to show the coldness of morning as in the frost on the ground and frozen lake.

All in all although a short shoot due to the cold, it was very enjoyable and looking forward to working with Perilune again.
